BAKENEKO, 2024
3D PRINTED MODEL, ACRYLIC PAINT, FLOCK, GOLD LEAF
3D PRINTED MODEL, ACRYLIC PAINT, FLOCK, GOLD LEAF
This piece was inspired by the Japanese yōkai of the Bakeneko, a shape-shifting cat that disguises itself among humans. They were known to have unnaturally long tails, associations to fire, and to consume lamp oil, which were all design details I included in the figure. I enjoyed the painting process after my model was 3D printed and experimenting with flock for the first time. The gold leaf definitely tied everything together though!
SELF-PORTRAIT, 2023
RED CLAY CERAMIC
RED CLAY CERAMIC
This piece served as a reflection of my fall semester at UNC Charlotte. At the time, I found myself constantly stressed out with homework and listening to a lot of music. Since the project was open-ended, I took the opportunity to think back on how my semester went and create something to commemorate it. As part of the project, I also had to choose an object to sculpt, which are the headphones on the head of the bust. The pattern designed was inspired by Pattie Chalmers' ceramic work, and the illustrations were drawn by me.

GALLERY OF ILLUSION, 2024
ACRYLIC, MASONITE, 3D PRINTED PIECES, PAINT
ACRYLIC, MASONITE, 3D PRINTED PIECES, PAINT
The inspiration behind this piece was completely determined by the constraints of the 10x10x10 cube. Because I was confined to a small space, I wanted to see if I could create an endless space, which is where the illusion came into play. I also wanted to do a small commentary on art galleries and how it would be people looking at people looking at art, but I didn't have time to completely execute the idea. Although the commentary didn't get to shine, the illusion became something fun to look at!
SHELL, 2025
WELDED STEEL, CHIFFON, GOLD PAINT, PLASTER
WELDED STEEL, CHIFFON, GOLD PAINT, PLASTER
This piece was a self-portrait using an actual 3D scan of my head! The scan was sliced using 3D software, and the steel was plasma cut by hand. Using a lot of fabric stiffener and glue, I was also able to solidify the shape of the fabric into a shell around my bust. This shell represents my personality and how I slowly open up and become an open book. The process was a little scary since it was my first time welding, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!

GARDEN POND, 2023
RED CLAY CERAMIC
RED CLAY CERAMIC
This abstract piece was inspired by the greenery in the Botanical Gardens at UNC Charlotte. After walking through the gardens, I was inspired by the flowers and spiral-shaped plants around the small pond. I wanted to recreate the spiraled plants in the middle, but I was running out of time and the piece was already getting quite big. I also experimented with a texture glaze to give the top of the piece some bubbled effects, replicating some of the patterns I saw in the gardens.
